I have spent many years exploring complementary therapies to create better health and a more holistic way of living. It still amazes me how many modalities and therapies are available, not only in lieu of traditional medicine therapies, but to work together with traditional allopathic methods to get incredible results. I had spent years battling respiratory issues to no avail and finally found a biofeedback (JMT and NMT) muscle testing technique using verbal protocols, eye movements, tapping and points, that alleviated the symptoms. I went even further in my search and trained in Shiatsu massage at the International School of Shiatsu. It is a massage technique utilizing the bodies meridian system as related to the accu-pressure points. We learned Oriental Medical Theory, macrobiotic cooking and the healing properties of foods, Qi Gong, how to access information from ourselves and others by using all the senses, and essentially how the mind, body, and spirit must be dealt with as a whole. My mother and I took these trainings together and not only helped our allergies and pain issues, but helped my father recover from 3 strokes. The neurologist is still amazed with recovery. Then, digging further, I found hypnosis and NLP. I’ve always known the mind has incredible power. I see it every day in myself and others. When I participated in a college study, as a subject for my psychology class,  I didn't really believe it worked. Now, I know it works. I’ve used it for myself and my family. In fact, I was able to give a lecture at my hospital on hypnosis last year and for a college class this year. Public speaking was a scary prospect until I utilized a few of the techniques with the help of my colleagues. More recently, I took a stress management instructor training and my world opened up even further.

I shared a synopsis of my journey into the integrative therapies to show that I have done the research and experienced some profound results. The tools are available and if you use them regularly they work! I’m always learning and gaining new insights every day. I just listen with all my senses and remember there are no failures just experiences in which we learn. My goal is to take all that I have learned and to share it with others. When you realize you can free yourself from the negative behaviors and self limiting beliefs the world is a different place. We all have the ability to change and with the tools like hypnosis, NLP and even simple stress management techniques, you can take back the power over your life by changing the thoughts you bring to it.
